Chip Lane holds a B.A. from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN (1998) and a J.D. with Honors from the University of Miami School of Law (2004).
Chip was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 2004 and the Georgia State Bar in 2011. He is also admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District and Northern District of Texas.
Before forming The Lane Law Firm in 2013, Chip was a Partner with Middagh & Lane, established in 2009. Prior to that, Chip was an associate with the Houston firm of Doyle, Restrepo, Harvin & Robbins LLP.
Chip was recognized as a "Rising Star" in 2010, 2012-2016 by Super Lawyers. Chip was identified by H magazine as one of "Houston's Top Lawyers" in 2011 and was named a "Top Young Lawyer" in 2010 by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters service. Also, Chip received the AVVO Client's Choice award for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2019 and was recognized as a "Top Lawyer of 2014" as ranked by AVVO and published in Houstonia magazine in December 2014 as well as ABODE Magazine in 2020. He also has been a Texas Bar Foundation "Life Fellow" since 2010.

While in law school, Mr. Lane was invited to participate in the State of Florida Moot Court competition, and after arguing their mock case to the Florida Supreme Court, Mr. Lane’s team won first place and he was given the Best Oral Advocate award by the Florida Supreme Court.
Mr. Lane was a student leader and member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
